The network was started on September 26 2021 from Rennes le Château, in the Haute-Vallée de l’Aude, France.
It doesn't matter who were the people who put their energy into developing it, it is today a work of disinterested collective intelligence, the concrete work being done within each cell.
No, it isn't. It is neither an association, a business, nor a foundation. SOLARIS has no administrative or legal structure, no money changes hands. It is a coming together of humans who want to rebuild the bond between themselves in order to stand in solidarity in increasingly difficult circumstances. All members, without exception, are volunteers within the network.
No. No one rules and there is no power structure. There is just a benevolent recognition of skills, which is what determines roles. If a hierarchy or power were established within a cell, it would be in violation of the SOLARIS Spirit. It would then be up to the members of the cell to resolve the problem in full sovereignty.
Everyone, without exception. Come as you are, bring your skills, for you all have them, without exception.
Benevolence is the most important thing, but if it turns out that someone is a problem because of his behaviour in a cell and that dialogue is not useful, he will be evicted by the whole cell. We will only network with those who are ready.
It's a gift, pure and simple like you would for a friend. What you give one day, you get from someone else the day you need it. There is no commercial transaction, no notion of exchange. Expenses may be proposed, and, if possible, one may contribute, but this is not in the expectations of the person who comes to help.
Protected from what? We are not naive, but how can the creation of a network of mutual aid and solidarity be attacked head-on? You are responsible for the information you share. There is much more information on social media than there is in the directory of a SOLARIS cell.
No data is made public. They are only used to update the local directory, which never leaves the hands of the local cell referents. This directory is also not known to the regional coordinators.
In other words, in a village, the local directory is not even known to the inhabitants. Only referents keep it up to date and have access to it. The directory, even if typed on a computer, is always printed or handwritten.
This is the right number to offer an alternative if a directory referent is contacted and does not respond. Two other contacts are then possible. The same goes for the coordinators. This may be more likely if the cell is dense in population.
Nobody. They volunteer themselves. Historically, the creators of a cell are most of the time coordinators. That said, nothing is fixed, coordinator, weaver and referent of the directory are roles that can rotate between volunteers with the right profile. Referents must of course be reachable by all members of their cell, they are the search engines of the Internet of Humans.
For two reasons. First, it is responsible for ensuring that the network is functional and optimal across the province. Then, it allows contact between the different distant cells. This allows the coordinators and referents of each cell to discover who their counterparts of the neighboring cells are and thus to be able to meet them, which is a necessity for the mesh.
The referents of a cell are known to the coordinators of the same cell. The latter are known to the coordinators of the regions and thus the meshing can be ensured at the provincial level. And even with neighboring provinces and countries, since the mesh extends in the same way across borders.
There is no minimum. You can start alone to create a cell in a village or neighbourhood, others will join. That's how it starts, one person launches the movement.
Strategically, in order to establish an effective solidarity mesh as quickly as possible, the priority is to create as many cells as possible. To be clear, today it is better to have 10 cells with 2 or 3 members than one cell with 100.
Because if the situation gets worse and the pressure increases, people will come to the network on their own. In this case, if it already exists within their village, it will be much more effective.
